What Are Invisalign Clear Aligners?
Invisalign straightens teeth with a series of clear, removable trays called aligners. Each set fits snugly and presses gently on your teeth, moving them a little at a time. When one set finishes its work, you move on to the next. The trays are nearly invisible, so most people will never notice you're wearing them. And because they come out for meals, you can eat what you love and brush and floss as usual. No brackets, no wires.
When Invisalign Might Be Right for You
Invisalign handles many common concerns: crowded or overlapping teeth, gaps, mild bite issues, or teeth that have drifted since you wore braces as a kid. Adults and teens who want straighter teeth without the look of metal braces tend to love it. It isn't the right fit for every mouth, though โ some complex bite problems respond better to other treatment. Dr. Anvy Sartorius will examine your teeth, listen to your goals, and give you an honest answer either way. Dental health with integrity starts there.
What to Expect at Your Visit
We begin with a comfortable digital scan โ no goopy impressions. The scan builds a 3D picture of your smile, so you can preview how your teeth are expected to move before treatment even starts. When your custom aligners arrive, we check the fit and show you how to care for them. Plan to wear each set 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink anything besides water, and brush. Quick check-ins at our Los Osos office keep your progress on track.
Aftercare and How Long It Takes
Most Invisalign treatment takes about 6 to 18 months, depending on how far your teeth need to move and how consistently you wear your aligners. Afterward, a retainer holds your new smile in place โ teeth like to drift back toward old habits, and the retainer stops them. Wear it as directed and your results can last for years to come. Regular cleanings and checkups protect everything underneath, so keep up with routine visits and we'll keep a close eye on your smile.
Paying for Invisalign
Many dental insurance plans include some orthodontic benefit, and our front office will gladly check your coverage and handle the paperwork. If you don't have insurance, our in-house Bear Dental Membership can make Invisalign and everyday care at Los Osos Family Dentistry more affordable.
